Adapted Back Scratcher
Purpose
FOP Community Member Manuel and his dad adapted this back scratcher so that it was comfortable for him to use by himself. The back scratcher was modified so that it had a longer handle, and he could reach his back. The adaptation only took one try after his dad measured the required lengths needed for Manuel to manipulate it well. He says, ” When I’m in my computer chair, I have trouble scratching my back. My hand reaches somewhat, but it is uncomfortable. It’s a lot easier to scratch my back when I’m in the computer chair. Plus, I can rest it on top of the desk, so it is always at hand.”
How to make
- Grab a wooden bar. The length is measured in advance, testing the movement needed to operate it.
- Put it next to the scratcher and screw from the top using two screws, this makes it sit still in place, compared to using only one. The width of the bar should be enough to allow more than one screw.
