Purpose

Additional Mirror Placement has been recommended by many FOP drivers.

***Everyone with FOP will have different needs when adapting a vehicle to drive. It is important to work with a Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist or another professional to determine your specific needs.***

Description

For individuals with limited neck mobility or other physical restrictions, additional mirror placements can significantly enhance visibility and safety while driving. These modifications help compensate for reduced movement by providing a broader field of view, reducing blind spots, and improving overall situational awareness.

  • Large Panoramic Mirrors: These wide-angle rearview mirrors expand the driver’s field of vision, reducing the need for excessive head movement. They are particularly useful for drivers who have difficulty turning their head due to medical conditions or mobility limitations. Panoramic mirrors can replace standard rearview mirrors or be clipped onto existing ones for added convenience.
  • Blind Spot Mirrors: Small convex mirrors attached to the side mirrors help drivers see areas that might otherwise be hidden. These mirrors are especially beneficial when changing lanes, merging, or parking, as they provide a more complete view of surrounding vehicles and obstacles.
