Chinese Head Scratcher
Purpose
FOP Community Member Manuel and his dad adapted this Chinese head scratcher so that it was comfortable for him to use by himself. It only took one attempt to make his adaptation and the design was made using materials lying around the house, without specifically buying anything. He says, ” I had this Chinese head scratcher, but I couldn’t use it comfortably by hand, and while I could rig it in place and move my head towards it, it wasn’t quite relaxing. So I asked my dad to give it a handle so I could move it from below. It’s not something that I use daily, but it rather unlocked something to do when I wanted.”
How to make
- Make a hole in the wooden bar so the handle of the scratcher can pass through
- Put glue to hold it in place.
- Make a hole on the other end of this bar, so the cylindrical bar can pass through. The length of this bar, which acts as the handle, should be set in advance after measuring the movement of the arm.
- Pass it through the hole from the bottom, and drive a screw from the top. The screw makes the wood widen and becomes snug, not requiring glue.
