Chive Charities

Purpose

Chive Charities is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that dedicates itself to supporting underserved U.S. individuals—particularly veterans, military families, first responders, and those with rare medical conditions—by providing life-changing grants for needs that go unmet by insurance or other resources. Through its weekly grant program, the organization funds vital items for individuals diagnosed with rare diseases, such as adaptive tricycles, robotic walkers, service dogs, wheelchair-accessible vans, communication devices, hyperbaric oxygen chambers, and other medical or mobility equipment . Applicants with rare medical diagnoses must provide documentation of their condition—typically confirmed via NORD or GARD databases—and a medical professional’s recommendation, proof of financial need (including income statements and quotes for requested items), and multimedia materials such as photos and social links to strengthen their application. After submission, applications undergo thorough review, with status updates communicated via email and an expected processing timeframe influenced by their weekly review cycle and application volume (10–50 per day). Chive Charities also shares recipient stories across its network to raise awareness and foster broader support for rare disease causes. The organization strives to fill the gaps where insurance falls short, making the world “10% happier” for those facing life-altering or life-threatening conditions.
