A bed basin allows hair to be washed while lying down in bed. If someone with FOP does not have the mobility or the energy to get into the shower or cannot bend their neck to allow for hair washing in the sink, a bed basin is a good alternative method for a caregiver to assist with hair washing
Description
A bed basin is an inflatable basin with a cut out for a person to rest their head and neck. The inside of the basin can then be filled with water so that hair can be washed with the help of a caregiver while the person is lying down.

Tips
It can be very helpful to put a plastic bag or plastic sheeting under the basin to avoid getting the sheets wet from any spills during the hair washing process.
