Purpose

If an individual with FOP has a fused arm or elbow a regular toothbrush may be too short to reach their mouth. This method allows individuals to make a longer handled version of an electric toothbrush that will still fit on the charger. Special thanks to Sharon for this awesome idea.

How to make

By using a wooden dowel, some duct tape, an empty pill bottle, and your electric toothbrush of choice, you are able to make this tool perfect for YOU. The handle is a half-dowel rod and is attached to the toothbrush with duct tape and a pill bottle. The pill bottle creates space so that the toothbrush still fits in the charger.Wooden dowels can frequently be purchased at craft stores and come in many different lengths and widths. For extra fun, choose a colored or pattered duck tape.
