Mobile Shampoo Bowl

Purpose

When taking a shower is not an option, using a mobile shampoo bowl can be a way to wash hair from a wheelchair or another seated position. Many mobile shampoo bowls are adjustable in bowl height and angle, meaning they should be able to accommodate neck stiffness in people with FOP. You don’t need any special plumbing or equipment to use a mobile shampoo bowl. You can put the drain hose in a bucket, the toilet, or a shower to drain the water. Caregivers can use a cup to pour water from the sink over the hair to easily wet and rinse. You could also use a handheld shower head attachment from the shower if bathroom spaces allows for placement of the shampoo bowl and wheelchair.
