Spot Saver

Purpose

The Spot Saver is a hitch mounted “arm” which can be pulled down when parked to prevent drivers from parking in the area next to handicapped parking. It can also be used in areas where there is not handicapped space to prevent drivers from parking too close to your car or van.

Description

The Spot Saver mounts to any vehicle with a standard 2”x2” (Class 3) hitch receiver. If your vehicle does not have a hitch, an after market hitch can be added to your car/truck/van. This can be done at home, at an auto shop, or even at your local Uhaul location. It is made of lightweight aluminum. The extended arm weighs roughly 1.5 pounds and has a slight give when pressed on. The Spot Saver is stored in a folded position on the back of the vehicle. When it needs to be used a locking clevis pin is pulled enabling it to fold out horizontally into the adjacent parking spot. To keep the Spot Saver straight, a flip lock mechanism is put into place that prevents it from folding.

The Spot Saver comes in two sizes. The Spot Saver 4’ is 4 feet long and extends out on the driver’s side of the vehicle. This is best for individuals who drive and need access to the front seat. The Spot Saver 6’ is 6 feet long and extends out on the passenger side of the vehicle. This is best for wheelchair vans or those who enter and exit the vehicle from the passenger side.
