Pivot Disk
Purpose
Transferring can be difficult when hip, leg, or feet mobility is limited, balance is poor, or strength is low. Pivot disks can be used to help a caregiver more safely assist someone with FOP transfer in a standing position.
Description
A pivot disk is made of rubber and silicone and features a 360 degree turning radius on a stable platform. When transferring, the individual puts their feet on the disk and with the help of a caregiver rotates on the disk.
Tips
Before using for a real transfer, practice this transfer in a safe place with support. With any product that helps movement, fall risk is increased. A gait belt should always be used when transferring.
While this product is designed to be non-slip and work on a variety of surfaces, extra precautions should be taken. Adding Dycem below the pivot disk will improve grip and safety.
